Noam Chomsky is widely credited with changing the world that studies language and languages, which influences neuropsychology. I’m calling this path Chomskyism and his acolytes Chomskyites.
Chomsky has detached the human faculty of language from the human need and ability to communicate, which includes the production and discernment of languages in numerous forms, carried in various media. Language is about decoding meaning from a received language and encoding meaning in a language to be shared. That human beings can simply produce and enunciate unique, coherent sentences representing their transpiring deliberate thoughts is a wonder to him. I feel the same.
I had ignored Chomsky for many years into my studies. Then, around 2022, I found I had been working with a lot of similar ideas. It is very unlikely that I came to the same conclusions as Chomsky. I conclude that he influenced me, indirectly through others' works that he influenced.
